U.S.D.A. Releases Organic Standards

U.S. Department of Agriculture formally announced the first national standards for growing and processing organic food

Dec. 22, 2000 -- If you want it labeled “USDA Certified organic” it’d better not be irradiated or contain chemicals, genetically modified organisms, antibiotics or sewage sludge. That’s the message delivered Wednesday when the U.S. Department of Agriculture formally announced the first national standards for growing and processing organic food.
